The three Conservative Councillors for New Hall, Cllrs David Barrie, Ken Wood and Alex Yip have been teaming up with Jaguar Landrover (JLR) workers, local businesses, residents, council staff and members of the Jones Wood Friends group to transform a local wooded area into a accessible park.
Council's woodlands team and senior ranger Danny Squire was recruited by Cllr Barrie who provided specialist tools and equipment to tackle the larger items. JLR were recruited by a friend of Cllr Yip's, a fellow magistrate John Perks who through JLR's community programs brought in 21 colleagues to transform the space over two days repairing fences, installing drainage tracks and three bridges were built using materials donated by the Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust and local business. Cllr David Barrie (left of photo) added "It was wonderful how many people came together to help on this project- which has made a tremendous difference to a wonderful local resource."
The wood can be found off Walmley Ash Road next to the local primary school The Deanery and has already been used by many residents and children alike as a quiet natural area in the heart of the village.
