West Midlands Conservative MEP, Malcolm Harbour, has welcomed the recent announcement that Birmingham will receive money from a £100million pot of Treasury cash to make the city ‘super-connected’.
Mr Harbour, who is also the Chairman of the European Parliament’s Internal market and Consumer Protection Committee said: “It’s great news that Birmingham has been chosen as one of the 10 cities to receive this cash boost to help develop Broadband speeds of 100Mbps.
“This will help Birmingham’s rapidly expanding digital media and creative industries, as well as helping all businesses to boost their competitiveness with new technology.
"It will encourage firms to exploit Europe's Digital Single Market by stepping up their on-line presence, boosting growth and jobs across our region.”
