The local Conservative candidate AKAAL SIDHU for Harborne on litter in Harborne:Most of you are quite rightly concerned and have complained about the unacceptable levels of waste and rubbish and the spread and dumping of litter and household items in and around Harborne.
Since the City has been under the control of the Labour administration and their introduction of the Garden £35 Waste Tax and the £25 Bulky Refuse Collection Charge there has been an increase in fly tipping and bulky household items being dumped on the street, on corners and in the resident’s front gardens.
The dumping of these items in this way is selfish, anti-social and demeans us all. More importantly this type of behaviour is illegal and hazardous to the health and well-being of our residents. The dumping attracts and encourages the spread of vermin and is an eyesore.
The Labour controlled Council seems unwilling to take any steps to prevent and/or alleviate this problem and is in denial and has total disregard of the expressed concerns of the local electorate.
The council should abolish the Garden Tax and the Bulky Refuse Collection Charge and properly be held to account for failing to deal with this problem and for their total disregard of the wishes of the local residents.
We are dedicated to making Harborne an even better place to live, work and raise a family. That`s why we hold regular community clean ups. If you like to get involved in one, please contact Akaal Sidhu at [email protected].
